Patience paying off in the meadows

 In Blog

This time of year has to be my favourite there is something different to see in the garden every day.

The first roses are blooming the peonies are literally bursting into flower and my favourite areas the wildflower meadows are showing us surprises each day.

Patience is really paying off on the meadows our persistence with orchids seems to at last be working and we now have them in 3 different areas and very slowly starting to seed after 8 years.

We have 3 different orchids – the Common spotted, Marsh and Bee orchid – none of which have been seen at Saxby for at least 60-70 years.

Yellow rattle is now growing in abundance and is greatly reducing the vigour of the the grasses allowing wild flowers to flourish.

So come along and see how the garden is progressing …
